I&E Assembly Technician Intern

We are currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Operations Technician Intern to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA.

The Operations Technician Intern will support the Operations team with the assembly, testing, shipping, receiving, and organization of industrial instrumentation and valve products. This position provides hands-on exposure to shop and warehouse operations while developing technical, mechanical, and inventory management skills. The Intern will assist technicians and warehouse personnel with daily tasks and must understand the importance of safety, quality, and productivity in a manufacturing and distribution environment. This role is intended as a learning opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in industrial operations, instrumentation, manufacturing, or related fields.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Assist Valve Technicians and Sensors Technicians with assembly and testing activities.
  • Support basic valve automation assembly, tubing preparation, and component installation under supervision.
  • Assist with the assembly and testing of temperature measurement devices, pressure gauges, and related instrumentation.
  • Utilize basic hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and measuring devices.
  • Learn to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Assist with packaging products and preparing orders for shipment.
  • Receive, unpack, inspect, and organize incoming materials and products.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts.
  • Label, stock, and organize materials within the warehouse and shop areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and storage areas.
  • Follow company safety policies and utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support quality control efforts by inspecting products and reporting discrepancies.
  • Assist with documentation and recordkeeping related to production, inventory, and shipping activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Operations team objectives.

Education and/or Experience

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a technical, vocational, associate, or bachelor's degree program related to Industrial Technology, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, or a similar field.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn are required.
  • Previous experience in a shop, warehouse, manufacturing, or technical environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
